06 After Heaven BaGua

After Heaven BaGua diagram
Figure: After Heaven BaGua emphasizes spatiotemporal movement and directional application.

In contrast to Before Heaven BaGua, the After Heaven Bagua, attributed to King Wen, shows how these forces actually behave in the real world over time — seasons change, energies shift, and nothing stays perfectly balanced. If the Before Heaven is a still photograph of perfection, the After Heaven is a moving picture of reality. Both are needed: one tells you what balance looks like, the other tells you how things actually flow and change.

The directional layout of the After Heaven Bagua must be memorized; it is extremely important. Traditional forecasting methods mostly use After Heaven directions, and our FengShui practice also uses After Heaven directions.

In the After Heaven palace-number system, opposite palaces sum to 10; 10 is an even number, and even corresponds to Yin in traditional numerology.
